ROYAL ENFIELD RETURNS TO THE BURT MUNRO CHALLENGE FOR 2021

One of the world’s most iconic motorcycle brands, Royal Enfield, will be back again in the deep south for the largest motorcycle rally in The Southern Hemisphere – The Burt Munro Challenge. Join us at our “pop up” Royal Enfield store at 23 Tay Street, Invercargill – right next door to Classic Motorcycle Mecca – with the full range of motorcycles on display. From the Classic range through to the adventure ready Himalayan, along with the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 Twins. Plus we will have some awesome custom build bikes on show and range of Royal Enfield clothing for sale.

Customers will also have the opportunity to speak to the team about the recently released Meteor 350.

During Friday and Saturday at the pop-up store, we are calling all RE owners to come in and tell us your Royal Enfield story, with the opportunity to be included in our official Burt Munro 2021 video! Everyone who partakes will be receiving a free gift from the team.

Not just for show! Join us at the iconic Oreti Beach Race on Friday, where we bring Wanaka Powersport’s “Intertracker 865” back to the sand. After placing 3rd in our class at the 2020 Burt Munro Beach Race, the Intertracker looks to step up higher on the podium at this years race – come into the shop and check out the bike before and after the race.

The Burt Munro Challenge starts on the 10th February and ends on the 14th February.

BURT MUNRO HISTORY

Born in Edendale in 1899, Burt Munro’s dedication to motorcycles was enormous, and his life’s achievements are legendary. He purchased his first motorcycle at the age of 15 and went on to set the 1967 record of 183.58mph at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, a record that still stands today.

Burt Munro was an extraordinary character that represents real and positive kiwi attributes such as ingenuity, dogged determination, and a laid back and humorous demeanour.

THE INTERTRACKER 865

Front and centre, and special guest for the event is the Wanaka Powersports ‘Intertracker 865’. Based on the Interceptor 650 Twin, this one-off flat tracker inspired custom bike won the ‘People’s Choice’ award at the 2019 Royal Enfield Busted Knuckles Bike Build-Off series. The Intertracker 865 featured an S&S Performance big-bore kit and one-of-a-kind S&S Performance flat tracker exhaust.

Changing perceptions of what a Royal Enfield can do, is what the Intertracker 865 was designed for and even though the bike was built to win shows, the team at Wanaka Powersports always had full intentions of taking the bike racing to prove just what can be achieved with the new 650 Twins.

Royal Enfield is New Zealand’s fastest-growing motorcycle brand with a strong dealer network, enjoying promising growth with motorcycles that appeal to a broad range of motorcyclists, from new learner riders through to returning veterans and everything in between.
